Collections

The collections were acquired as gifts or purchased from private individuals or institutions and are intended to supplement the existing archives. The collections comprise minor documents or ones of provenance that is unknown or insignificant.

Most of these are documents from individuals, in addition to those from Jewish Communities, institutions, organizations, and companies, as well as printed materials, magazines, posters, and photographs - sometimes extant as reproductions. The collections are being continuously expanded. Documents from one donor or one source are categorized as a bundle, even if they deal with different concerns or are different types of materials, so they could be categorized only generally.

Most of the materials in the collections are personal documents, family documents of Jewish families or individuals (mostly from Berlin), extant as either the original or a copy. These collections are too small to be classified as an estate.

There are also numerous memory reports and other manuscripts.

Another portion of the collected documents and manuscripts are from Jewish Communities, organizations, institutions, and companies.

The remainder of the collected materials are various individual documents, posters and flyers, photographs and photograph albums, individual issues of newspapers or magazines, printed matter, etc.

There is also a photograph collection in the Centrum Judaicum that contains documentation of the reconstruction of the New Synagogue and photographs used for events and exhibitions of the Centrum Judaicum.
